Langkawi is a cluster of islands, sitting off the coast of Malaysia, providing a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
A popular spot with locals and tourists, the islands offer true relaxation and exhilarating adventure. With a winning combination of idyllic beaches, crystal clear waters and dense rainforests, you can make your holiday as peaceful or active as you want.
The sun shines all year with the best time to visit being January – March but beware, with a tropical climate there is a chance of increased rainfall between September – October.
With so many activities to choose from high on the list should be a cable car ride to the top of Gunung Mat Chinchang. A short 20 minute trek through the tropical rainforest gives you the opportunity to walk the Langkawi Sky Bridge. Sitting at 2300ft above sea level it offers incredible views, and with a walkway only 1.8m wide, this trail is certainly one for the adrenaline junkies.
Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls is a must see for all visitors. The waterfall cuts an impressive form through the dense rainforest, cascading into the pools below. Spend an afternoon dipping in and out of the ponds and experiencing the naturally formed water slides – but make sure to watch out for the monkeys!
After an arduous day trekking through the rainforest, why not spend a few pampered hours at one of the many deluxe spas? You’ll leave feeling well rested and relaxed, before sitting down to enjoy a romantic meal by the ocean.
For the night owls, the islands come alive after dark. Start off with a visit to Temoyong Night Market, the location changes nightly. Dig through a plethora of local antiques and Langkawi souvenirs before moving onto the many cocktails bars in the area.
Before your holiday is over don’t forget to take advantage of Langkawi’s duty free shopping. Teow Soon Huat houses 60 outlets, 12 eateries and a supermarket, perfect for picking up your essential chocolates and perfume!
