Overview

Tenerife is known for being one of the most famous holiday destinations in the Canary Islands, and it's easy to see why this little Atlantic community attracts so many year after year. The island seems to find the perfect balance between culture, party and relaxation, with a vibrant carnival scene, natural beaches and ancient streets to discover.

Head to the city of La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and experience the historic streets for yourself. Here you can find the picturesque cathedral, as well as climb to the top of the Iglesia de la Concepción to get a fantastic view of the surrounding city.

Food on the island is another thing you'll love to devour. Classic Mediterranean cooking features a range of seafood, fresh fish, meat and, of course, tapas.

For something a little different, why not try a whale-watching trip? A lesser-known fact, Tenerife is one of the best spots in the world for finding dolphins and whales, as well as rays and sharks, too.

Still, if you’re looking to spend a day simply relaxing and enjoying a sea view, there's plenty of opportunity to recline on a beach in Tenerife. You can choose from black sand beaches like Playa Bollullo, secluded spots such as La Caleta, or the more energetic Playa de Las Americas - the choice is yours!
