Check-In & Security

LBA recommend that passengers arrive at the airport 2-3 hours prior to departure.

Whether you check-in for your flight online or via your airline's check-in desks, all passengers must pass through security before they are permitted to enter the Departure Lounge.

Each airline permits individual personal allowances for both hold and cabin baggage. You are advised to check with your airline prior to arriving at the airport.

The Process:

As you enter the Security Area your boarding card will be inspected and you will be required to go through the passenger screening process.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you allow yourself sufficient time to pass through security and arrive at the Departure Gate at the time published on your boarding card.

Once in the comfort of the Departure Lounge you can enjoy the facilities on offer. Click Here to view Departure Lounge Facilities.

Restrictions on Hand Baggage at LBA:

LBA has a policy of 1 piece of hand baggage per passenger, this includes ladies handbags and also laptop bags. Airlines apply their own policies regarding the size of hand baggage permitted onboard. For more information please contact your airline.

All hand baggage will be passed through an x-ray scanner.

Liquids in Hand Baggage and other Prohitibed Items:

Due to Department for Transport regulations, limited amounts of liquid are allowed through the Security Area provided that:

1. It is in a container with a capacity no greater than 100ml.

2. It is carried within one transparent, re-sealable plastic bag with a capacity not exceeding 1 litre; the dimensions for which must not exceed 8" x 8".

3. The contents of the plastic bag must fit comfortably and the bag must be completely closed.

4. The plastic bag must be carried seperately from hand baggage.

5. The passenger is responsible for providing their own plastic bag. Plastic bags that do not meet the correct criteria will be required to be packed into hold baggage at the time of check-in. Alternatively, the correct bag can be purchased after having your boarding card verified.

Liquids Include:
Cosmetics, gels, pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures and the contents of pressurised containers, e.g. toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, deodorant, shaving foam aerosols etc.

Essential medicines and Baby milk/food in liquid form are permitted, subject to the amount being a) sufficient for the trip, b) as long as they are verified as authentic and c) the content of each bottle/jar of baby food is tasted by an accompanying passenger.

Baggage Advice:

Ensure you pack your own bag and do not allow anyone to tamper with them.

Do not carry anything belonging to others.

Clearly label all bags with your name and your destination address.

Observe the weight allowance for hold and hand baggage as allocated by your airline and detailed on your ticket.

Never leave bags or personal belongings unattended in the terminal building. Unattended bags and belongings are considered a security risk and may be removed or destroyed.

Do not pack any sharp or restricted items in your hand baggage.

In preparation for security, all passengers are required to observe the following:

Prior to reaching the front of the Security queue, please remove outer garments including coats; jackets; jewellery; shoes and belts.

Please have your clear re-sealable plastic bag of liquids separate from your hand baggage.

Please remove any large electrical items from hand baggage ready for screen and inspection.

Laptops should be removed from cases and laid in a separate tray.

Non permitted items will be confiscated by security.
