Leeds Bradford Airport is working in collaboration with NPH Group to provide COVID-19 PCR tests for passengers, and those in the community who require them for other reasons.

Types of PCR Testing

The PCR testing service is available for returning and outbound passengers requiring:

  • A Fit to Fly certificate | You must book and take this test in advance of departure
  • Day 2 & 8 Testing | You must book these tests before you travel
  • Testing as part of the Test to Release scheme | Available on day 5 after arrival in the UK. Find out more >

How does it work?

  1. Book your test online with NPH Group, ensure the date and time meet your travel requirements before making payment. If you are arriving as a group, each person will require a separate appointment.
  2. The test will take place in our Viking Airport Parking car park, click here for directions. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to avoid delays.
  3. Arrive with your booking confirmation and passport with you.
  4. Your test will be conducted by a qualified clinician, and results will be available via email within 36-48 hours of your appointment date and time. The certificate will clearly state your result, and whether you are Fit To Fly or Not Fit To Fly. 

Please take special care when booking your test date and time.

When selecting your appointment you must check the time frame for your COVID-19 result is before your departure date and time or your arrival date and time. You can find this information here, and with your airline or tour operator.

Please note, you must be prepared to self-isolate in-line with Government guidelines, in the event your test comes back positive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect on the day of my test?

Upon arrival at the Viking Airport Parking car park, clear signage will guide you to the testing centre entrance.

Once inside, you will be guided through the test centre, reporting first to the reception. When instructed, you will be called forward for your test. The trained clinician will give you the necessary instructions, and talk you through the process. During the test, samples will be taken from your throat, followed by your nose.

Please avoid eating for an hour or two prior to testing and bring a bottle of water in case you would like a drink after your swab.

How much does a test cost?

  • PCR test costs £99 per person and results are provided by email within 48 hours of the test date and time
  • Test to Release test costs £99 per person and results are provided by email within 48 hours of the test date and time
  • Day 2 & 8 Tests start from £90 per person, Results are provided by email within 48 hours from receipt at the labratory.

When should I book?

To ensure the appointment date and time you require is available, we recommend booking as early as possible.

Do children require tests?

This varies depending on where you are travelling to. We recommend that you speak with your airline, tour operator or refer to the latest Government guidance to determine the specific requirements. 

How do I change or cancel my appointment?

NPH Group will provide everything you need to change, amend or cancel your appointment. For cancellations within 48 hours of your arrival time, we regret that a refund will not be available.

Could I use the NHS / Mass Testing Scheme instead?

No, the NHS service is only available to those showing symptoms, and neither of these alternatives provide the Fit To Fly certificate required for international travel.

Where are my test results?

If you have attended an appointment with multiple people (e.g. family members) and their results have come back before yours, please don’t get in touch for your result until 48 hours have passed. Results are processed in no specific order, so can come back separately.

If your result has not come back after 48 hours, please contact NPH Group.

What should I do if my test comes back positive, or invalid?

In the event of a positive test, you must self-isolate in accordance with government guidelines. Unfortunately, you will not be permitted to travel therefore you should contact your airline or tour operator to discuss your options.

In the rare situation that your test is invalid, the sample will be retested. This may cause delay to your result being sent to you and you may not be able to obtain a result within your timeframe.

In most cases you will receive the result after an invalid test has been retested. The incidence of an invalid test is 1:1000. NPH Group have reduced the risk of invalid tests and false negatives considerably by providing a face to face testing service which helps to ensure an adequate sample is collected.

In the very rare event of a second invalid test result, it will not be possible issue a result within the remaining time available before your departure and you will not be able to fly. We cannot issue a refund.
