Keep more active than the volcano

Explore its volcanic history by taking a tour of Cueva de los Verdes, and see the magnificent tunnel the lava from a volcanic eruption that occurred 5,000 years ago has left behind. Take the kids along on a guided tour through the 'Martian' lands of the Timanfaya National Park, or take a camel ride through the bizarre landscape of volcanoes. 

If you're into surfing and fancy brushing up your skills, try out one of the surf schools at the Famara beach, close to the village of La Caleta de Famara. For beaches that boast natural beauty, the Papagayo collection is perfect. Although they can be difficult to access, their serene atmosphere is worth it.
