Leeds Bradford Airport hosted a special Ramadan event on Tuesday 10 March alongside Waterwise and Regal Foods Plc, bringing together businesses, community leaders and colleagues to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan while launching the airport’s new sustainability strategy, Together for Tomorrow.

The event aimed to foster inclusion, cultural awareness and community engagement at a time of significant growth for the airport, which is currently progressing its terminal expansion project, LBA:REGEN. As part of the refurbishment of the current terminal, the airport recently opened a new landside multi-faith room, providing a welcoming space for reflection and prayer for passengers and colleagues.

The gathering also marked the launch of Together for Tomorrow, Leeds Bradford Airport’s long-term sustainability strategy and commitment to building a more sustainable future.

The event was compered by Humayun Islam and featured a number of guest speakers including Vincent Hodder (CEO, Leeds Bradford Airport), Nicci Russell (CEO, Waterwise), Kunaal Wharfe (General Counsel & Company Secretary, Leeds Bradford Airport), Fatima Khan Shah (Strategic Advisor and Chair working across Health, Local Government, Private and Public Sector), Dr Saira Ali (President of the Landscape Institute and Team Leader of Bradford Council’s Landscape Design team) and Younis Choundry (Director, Regal Foods Plc).

Colleagues, partners and community representatives gathered to share reflections on the significance of Ramadan and the importance of sustainability and water stewardship. Following a moment of prayer at sunset, guests enjoyed a communal meal and networking session.

The event was supported by the airport’s Inclusion Champions Network, which plays a key role in celebrating cultural events and strengthening inclusivity across the workplace. Inclusion is central to Leeds Bradford Airport’s company values, with community partnerships continuing to play an important role in the airport’s growth.

Vincent Hodder, Chief Executive Officer of Leeds Bradford Airport said: “At Leeds Bradford Airport we are dedicated to creating an environment where diversity is embraced and all employees and passengers are valued. As part of our ongoing efforts, LBA remains committed to providing spaces and opportunities for cultural expression, learning and dialogue. We are delighted to continue hosting events like this as part of our dedication to education, inclusion and understanding.”
