Discover Girona
A veritable maze of winding streets and stunning coastline, there is no shortage of things to see and do in Girona. Right at the heart of northern Spain, numerous small fishing villages come together to form an area where you can relax, enjoy beautiful food or even learn to ski in the quiet mountains.
Pequeña but perfectly formed
The relatively small size of Girona makes it perfect to explore on foot. Start in the north to visit the remains of the Roman city wall, before taking in the sights of Sant Pere de Galligants church, home to the city's archaeological museum. You can expect to eat well in Girona - there are a vast number of delicacies local to the area, including l'escala anchovies, wild mushrooms and gamba roja de Palamós, a flavourful shrimp dish. Eat your fill in one of the city's great restaurants or try your hand at catching your own - fishing is a way of life here.
If you'd prefer to bring your holiday slightly more up-to-date, Girona province is home to plenty of developed resorts perfect for tourists - Tossa de Mar, Playa de Aro and Lloret de Mar to name but a few. No matter where you stay, be sure to mix with the locals - they're a friendly and lively lot!
