What’s great about Washington DC is the impressive choice of free attractions readily available for all visitors. Washington DC is host to humble monuments and memorials located on the National Mall and two dozen free museums. ‘The Mall’ is a two-mile park bound by a tree-lined boulevard with millions of people visiting each year to commemorate presidential legacies, pay their respects to past and present veterans; celebrating America’s national devotion to freedom and equality.

Tourist favourites are the Simonsonian Institution and the National Museum of Natural History. By law buildings of Washington DC cannot be higher than the width of the road they front therefore you can always see the sky – true Parisian style. Other landmarks in DC include Dr. Martin Luther King’s original location during his famous “I have a dream” speech. The United States Capitol building is one fixture still available for public access, complete with 540 rooms all connected by grand halls and neoclassical architectural design; with tours lasting approximately one hour, if you have it to spare it is well worth a visit.

Of course, tourists should be sure to stop by the White House and Washington Monument. After you’ve visited the must-see landmarks, DC welcomes you to its dynamic network of neighbourhoods, home to the most stylish boutiques, bars, restaurants and art galleries. Surprisingly, the National Park makes up for two-thirds of the city, but don’t worry there’s still enough room for Washington DC to have a remarkable high-end shopping district on the streets of Georgetown!

For party goers, DC offers a choice of three party points; Georgetown, Adams Morgan or Street U, each serving a different scene for any music palate. Alternative music lovers are usually found on U Street, famous as the place where Jazz player, Duke Ellington first ever played. The best known venues for incredible live music are the 9:30 Club or Habana Village for an exciting and eclectic night. Finally fear not, you’ll never be far from iconic eateries like Marvin, a rooftop terrace bistro and bar. If you like it old school and family-run grab a chilli-dog from Ben’s Chili Bowl – a timeless classic since 1958.

With its weather fairly mild all year round there’s never a better time to visit Washington DC than the present!
